My short review:
Killers of all kinds, intrigues and spies have always made good film (& pulp fiction) material. The fact that is this based on real events gives this film a great advantage. The situation here though is complex for as much as we need drama, we also co-exist with the drama of our needs. The thorn on our side, like a reality we cannot escape, is deeply ensconced. Appearing at times in its final state like serial (killer) cliff-hanging episodes, we cannot resist our desire to see more; it makes sense that what was going to be a feature length movie developed to last 5 1/2 hours. One may finally lift a bit of the veil of idealism and that of fiction, two sides of the same coin.
The film’s website.

Should be seen one day in the context of Robert Kramer’s 1970 Ice and Uli Edel’s 2008 The Baader Meinhof Complex
