To the End of the Land (a novel that tells the story of a woman’s decision to leave her home so that if her soldier son is killed
in war, the news will not reach her) just won the German Peace Prize.

From Reuters:
Grossman had started “To the End of the Land” three years before his son’s death (in the last Lebanon war).
“A day after the end of the week of mourning, I returned to my desk and continued to write on the book,” said Grossman.
“I discovered again that writing was the best way for me to fight arbitrariness, any kind of arbitrariness, and the feeling of being at its mercy like a helpless victim.”
