Mel Melcon (photographs and recording)
When sisters Aleah Nahue, 10, and Joane, 14, took to practicing their accordions on the sidewalk in downtown Los Angeles, little did they know it would pay off. It started in 2007 after they drowned each other out while practicing inside their mom’s small office on Main Street. Joane went outside to play and left her case open. Someone dropped in a dollar, and they have been cashing in ever since.
