Oliver Stone – “Apparently, the director is peeved that six million Jews get all the attention when Hitler killed a lot more Russians. “Hitler did far more damage to the Russians than the Jewish people, 25 or 30 [million killed],” he told the Sunday Times.
In the company of nuts like Chavez or Ahmadinejad (his next subject), one must apparently become a nut too.
A ten part series for Showtime his latest “idea”: “Hitler is an easy scapegoat throughout history and it’s been used cheaply”. Another provocateur seeking publicity for his next project?
A rebuttal is made here by Brian Levin, Director, Center for the Study of Hate and Extremism, California State University.
Later, on Monday, he added that: ” “In trying to make a broader historical point about the range of atrocities the Germans committed against many people, I made a clumsy association about the Holocaust, for which I am sorry and I regret.”
Stone added that he did not believe that Jews control the media, or any other industry , and that the fact that the Holocaust was still an important and current topic is actually a great achievement and a credit to those committed to perpetuating the memory of the atrocities committed during that period’.
